Fiverr Success: Getting Started on Fiverr
Fiverr is probably the most difficult of the side-hustles I regularly recommend. The things that make it more difficult are that it isn't a marketplace designed to match people together like many of the other places, it is simply a well-built marketplace where you can post your wares. Unlike Etsy (Learn about using Etsy as a side hustle!) where you are most likely selling a tangible good, on Fiverr, you could also be selling a service which is a little bit more difficult to successfully sell online.
Fiverr is also a massive website - one of the largest in the world. That means that there is a lot of competition on the site. However, if you follow the steps below, you'll find Fiverr success as you get started.
MAKE YOUR OFFER UNIQUE
If you take a look around the Fiverr marketplace, you'll notice that there are a LOT of gigs available for purchase. You can offer just about anything on Fiverr, but you want to make sure you offer something that people need and want in a unique way. Surprise people by what you can offer them for $5. Brainstorm a list of products and services that you think you can provide for that amount of money.
Once you have that list, search for gigs that are like it on Fiverr. Generate your list of keywords for your potential gig, and research what the top gigs are on that keyword. People that are searching on Fiverr are ready to spend money, and you want to beat out the top ranked items on those keywords as quickly as possible. That's how you'll make your money. What makes your offering unique from them? If you can't answer that question, you may want to head back to the drawing board.
MAKE YOUR BASIC OFFER SOMETHING QUICK
Fiverr obviously comes from the idea that you can get many things on the site for only $5. While the true money that you can make on Fiverr comes in the form of the upsell and add-ons for your gigs, but you will need to post something that costs only $5.
Whatever that gig is going to be, remember that you'll only take in $4 from it, as Fiverr takes a 20% fee. So you don't want to have to spend a whole lot of time completing the project, otherwise these gigs won't really be worth your time. So as you brainstorm potential gigs to post, think about things you enjoy doing, and that only take a few minutes of your time to complete.
THINK OF IT AS A SEARCH ENGINE
As you build your listing, it's important to keep in mind that the Fiverr website essentially functions as a search engine. The more tools of SEO that you can apply to your listing, the better chance you'll have of finding success and getting your gig ranked.
You can also do other things, like creating a short video about your gig that can function as a commercial for you gig. You want to sell potential customers on your gig, as your conversion percentage is a factor in how well your gig ranks, which is going to translate directly to your bottom line.
